Rock Your Shoebootie!!!

I know blog fans, it's been too long. But the Moxie girls have been busy-bees. With two stores, a plethora of private and public events (including an upcoming Fashionably Late with Cibeline at the Liberty Hotel on November 19), soooo many good shoes, bags and accessories to buy for you, we've fallen off the blog wagon. But no more neglecting YOU, our faithful readers.

It's time for the Moxie girls to get their new media on! Although I have gotten a bit Twitter crazy (follow my uber-stylish, and somewhat funny musings @moxieboston). But I return to the blog and kick off the season with -- Shoebootie Mania! (pronounced "Sha-booty" - sounds great when repeated quickly to music...). Rock on.

So why do we Shoebootie? Here are the top 5 reasons:

1. Shoebooties are versatile. Skinny jeans, short skirts, leggings, etc. The shoebootie can handle it!

2. Shoebooties never tell you your calves are too big...or too small.

3. Shoebooties with tights and a short dress make your legs look amazing!

4. Shoebooties come in all shapes and colors -- some even have peep toes.

5. Shoebooties can be shoes or booties - perfect for the recessionista!

I admit that since I've discovered this season's shoebooties my pumps are feeling a bit neglected. Not to worry my skinny-heeled babes I'll return to you once I get this craze out of my system.

In the meantime let me tell you about my new favorite. She's gorgeous! She's super-high, has a hidden platform, luxe snake embossed, and she's made by Loeffler Randall (goddess!). Her name is Yvette and I love her!

Still not sure the shoebootie's for you? Come on in to our Boston or Wellesley stores and try some on yourselves. You won't regret it. You may even start rockin'. Really. I promise! XOXO, Karen.

Wellesley gets its own Moxie store - Wellesley, MA - The Wellesley Townsman

Wellesley gets its own Moxie store - Wellesley, MA - The Wellesley Townsman

Extra, Extra, Read All About It!!!

We know it's been too long since we've shared our news with you, our Moxie fans. We've been so busy getting the new store opened, planning and then recovering from our fantastically successful Grand Opening Party, hosting private shopping parties for some fantastic fashionistas, buying for next season...and the list goes on and on. But we wanted to share some of the amazing moments with you. So read on for some of our wonderful Wellesley press coverage.

First up thank you to Kate Bouwer and Fashion Boston for such an amazing article in their April 2009 issue. My interview with Kate was one of the highlights of my press experiences. For those who haven't discovered FB yet this is a go-to publication for all the latest Fashion News in Boston and beyond. A special shout-out to Editor in Chief, Alexandra Hall for continuing to spread the love of all things beautiful. And a big hug and kiss to her patient husband, Mike, who parties like a rock star.

Another huge highlight of our Wellesley press coverage comes from the fabulous Rachel Baker and Boston Magazine. Her May Taking Inventory page featured styles from Moxie and includes information about and a photo of the new store.

From Boston Magazine:

Taking Inventory: The Other Shoe Drops
Beacon Hill footwear boutique Moxie steps into the suburbs.
By Rachel Baker

OUR FAVORITE ITEM A departure for the usually classic Tory Burch, these slingbacks with oversize rhinestone embellishments ($425) are more glam than preppy.

WHAT'S SELLING BEST These shimmery linen sandals by cult brand Loeffler Randall ($595) are versatile, with a kick.

COVETED BY THE SHOP CLERK With a devastating heel and luxe rosette accents, the Pandora pumps by up-and-comer Jerome C. Rousseau ($795) make Louboutins seem old hat.

THE LOWDOWN After outfitting the feet of shoppers in Beacon Hill for seven years, Moxie boutique owner Karen Fabbri is taking her footwear fetish west, opening a second location in Wellesley. The girly, 1,000-square-foot shoe parlor—designed by Charles Street neighbor Kristine Irving of Koo de Kir—will house a similarly well-edited selection of pumps, flats, and boots, many of which will be area exclusives, including Tory Burch, Cynthia Vincent, and Loeffler Randall. And on the handbag front, Rafe and Kooba will join an already-stellar roster of favorite brands like Foley + Corinna and Botkier.

With Bated Breathe...

The paint is on the walls, the floors are finished, the merchandise lies in wait in the boxes...and Moxie Wellesley is getting closer to opening its doors to the public. And while Kristen and I have been busy organizing, buying, PR-ing, planning, etc. I have dropped the ball on the blogging. Imagine my elation when I had a Moxie Blog follower request an update. Thank you kind follower for your support! So here goes - a new blog from the crazy, creative, little-bit-sleepy world of the Moxie gals.

We are in L-O-V-E, love, love, love. Oh, don't worry hubbies and boyfriends, we haven't found newer models to capture our affections. We've found new shoes and bags! With the changing of the seasons comes the changes of the fashions. I mean really, why else do we voluntarily live in New England?

And with each new season comes boxes full of delights. Each day is like Chrismakuh when the UPS man comes a'callin. Soooooo, who are we loving now? Why Loeffler Randall, of course. Check out these gorgeous ruffled sandals! They are feminine, flirty and look spectacular with jeans and dresses alike. Pair them with a bright-colored Foley and Corinna bag and you're ready for your close-up!

And in this tough economy dressing up your current wardrobe with a gorgeous pair of shoes or a spectacular bag can really stretch your dollar (and breathe new life into those jeans you bought last year which cost you a fortune...).

So come visit us at Moxie on Charles Street in Beacon Hill and soon on Church Street in Wellesley and see these little gems for yourself. Oh, and watch for our new Loeffler email to hit your mailboxes soon.

XOXO,

Karen, Kristen and all the Moxie gals!

Vegas Recap...

Hello All,

Well we returned from Vegas and needed a week to recover from all of the fun and hard work (really, we worked...). Kristen and I enjoyed walking the show and found some truly beautiful shoes for you all to enjoy next fall. Sadly, however, the show was noticeably quieter than previous years and many retailers and vendors alike are concerned about the economy.

Ever the optimists, Kristen and I kept our chins up, our wine glasses full and our gaming hands busy. Some highlights of our trip included meeting Wolfgang Puck at his Postrio restaurant, sharing dinner and drinks with my brother, Steven and sister-in-law Kelly and my wonderful Mother, Laura at both Koi (favorite restaurant ever) and Dos Caminos.

We tried our hands at the slot machines. Kristen enjoyed playing the ever-riveting "Gold Fish" while I prefered to flit about at the various dollar machines. The Palazzo, Venetian, Mirage and Planet Hollywould are very happy about my donation! We also had some good times sitting at Three Card Poker and meeting all kinds of fun (and weird) people.

Once we sort through the various shoe pictures I'll post some of our faves here for you all to see. In the meantime think Spring!

Cha-ching, cha-ching. XOXO.

Vegas Action

We've arrived in Vegas! Yea! I've already lost money at the slots, spent money at Barney's and Tory Burch and am in the room preparing to spend more money at a wonderful dinner at Lavo. Budget be damned (that's a message for my husband who is trying to put me on a budget...much like lassoing a horse with a rubber band, pretty impossible!).
Hey look, there I am losing $20. Woo-hoo!
After that fun gambling excursion we retired to our room where Kristen proceeded to try on all of my shoes. Watching her little size 7 feet trip around in my 5-inch high size 9 gold Diors was quite an experience. And I particularly loved when she tried on my FABULOUS bejeweled Miu Miu flats and exclaimed, "Now I wouldn't eat for 1 week to have these." So either she's eating too much or I have to pay her more.
Can't wait to see what kind of trouble we get into tonight. Keeping our eyes peeled for shoe-people we might know (some we'll embrace, some we'll run from -- but no naming names!).
Tomorrow we're up bright and early for the show and we'll let you know what we find.
Send me your lucky numbers and I'll put some money on the roulette table for you!
XOXO,
Gambling Moxie Girl (and Kristen)

Hot Ride!

Here at Moxie we are single-handedly trying to save the economy. Yes, folks we are doing our part to reignite the economic engines. As such we have just procured our first company car! Check out this sweet ride. What it lacks in size it makes up for in shear cuteness. And just wait until we get it lettered in a "just-so" purple color. I haven't even mentioned the great fuel efficiency...go green, go, go!

So look for us zipping around town between Boston and our soon-to-be-opened Wellesley store. We'll be shuttling all kinds of goodies for you to enjoy. Toot-toot.

Cute Moxie Baby Shout Out...

And today's cutest Moxie baby award goes to...Cooper! He was such a champ and slept for Mom's Moxie visit today. And Dad, if you're reading this Cooper really thinks Mom would look great in these strappy Theory shoes. Phyllis, Kristen and I hope you two had a great time at the Children's Museum.

Moxie Moms - keep a look out for your baby to appear in our Baby Shout Out section! XOXO, Karen

Spring a ding a ding dong!

I don't know about you but I was thrilled and delighted by this past weekend's Boston weather. Finally we saw temps above 50 degrees and lots of sunshine (sigh...). I even moved away from my fave winter nail color (Lincoln Park after Dark) to a lighter, redder shade. This is all in preparation for the Moxie buying trip to Vegas.

Kris and I board a plane bright and early Wednesday morning and head to Sin City. With Vegas temps in the 60s open toe shoes WILL be worn. I am looking foward to seeing my new pedi-color with the beautiful (just arrived) Cynthia Vincent shoes pictured here. Ladies, you don't have to wait until our weather totally turns before perusing our gorgeous spring shoes. Open toe shoes can be worn in the freezing cold. Just make sure your limo picks you up! XOXO!

Moxie Gets Bloggie!

Hello Moxie Ladies (and Gentlemen)!

We have entered the happy land of blogging and are revved up to share our love of designer shoes, bags and accessories with you, our favorite fans.

If you are new to Moxie, here's the story:

Moxie is the creative brainchild of owner Karen Fabbri (that's me, your fearless blogger). I started the store 7 years ago on Charles Street in Boston's Beacon Hill. Having no previous retail experience myself (other than being an excellent shopper), it was a ballsy move that took a lot of "Moxie." I opened with a love for shoes, a love for my neighborhood (as I also live in Beacon Hill) and a love of connecting with people. That love has spanned the last 7 years and grown into an even greater passion to share Moxie's findings with stylish, strong, beautiful women of all sizes, with all types of experiences and from all backgrounds.

Moxie has grown over the years. We inhabit a bigger space than our original and we are filled with contemporary designer shoe and handbag lines. Our current favorites include Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Delman, Foley & Corrinna, Hayden-Harnett and many more (some new ones which I'll share with you soon).

So stay tuned for more updates, style secrets and crazy Moxie stories (my manager/buyer Kristen and I head to Vegas on Wednesday for shoe-show. What happens in Vegas...).

Love you. XOXO.
