What amazing news that Moxie received a Best of Boston award from Boston Magazine. We won for our fabulous Wellesley store in the "Best of the 'burbs, Wellesley" category. And we were tickled that our Beacon Hill store got a shout-out in the write-up as well.
This October Moxie celebrates 9 years in business. Can you believe it? I can't. When I opened the first store (in a small walk-up at 73 Charles Street) I had recently left an enjoyable and successful career in the high-tech public relations field. I had taken the time off to figure out my next career move. I thought creative writing and/or acting were my next gigs until one conversation with a friend who owned a clothing store changed everything for me.
I fell in love with the idea of store ownership. I was already in love with my neighborhood (Beacon Hill) and already in love with shoes, bags and accessories. And what I lacked in retail knowledge I made up for in blind enthusiasm. So planning began, buying began, build-out began. And the doors opened.
9 years ago.
Today we are two stores filled with choice lines of gorgeous merchandise. We are a team of smart, vivacious, wonderful women who enjoy working together and bringing smiles to our customers' faces. We are stores where our guests feel at home, where dogs get cookies, where kids play dress up and legos and where women look (and more importantly) feel beautiful.
In 9 years I've had two children, worked on many amazing charities, formed close friendships with colleagues, talked with oodles of fellow shoe-lovers and built a brand. And I am thankful every day for these experiences.
I can't wait to see what the next 9 years will bring.
